Nick Fury hasn’t always been played by Samuel L. Jackson. Prior to the MCU, Fury was played in a 20th Century Fox made-for-TV movie by David Hasselhoff. The 1998 film – Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. – was intended to be a pilot for a potential television series, but the film was so poorly received that the plans for the series were cancelled.

Hasselhoff did make a splash in the MCU though, in a cameo appearance near the end of Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2. The Hoff appears very briefly as one of the villain Ego’s manifestations in the climactic battle scene.
