“I think I’ll take one of those new fangled trolleys down to the drug store soda fountain and meet the boys for a cold sarsaparilla.”
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress is a time-stamped tribute to technological progress in American culture, celebrating the latest advancements in air cooling, indoor plumbing, and thirty percent brighter Christmas tree lights.
But in addition to chronicling life in America, the Carousel also celebrates the history of storytelling, technology, and audio-animatronics in Walt Disney Imagineering.
In a loving, historical deep-dive episode of the Married to a Disney Addict podcast, I join hosts (and friends) Krystle and Matt Woolley for Episode 91 to discuss this iconic and groundbreaking attraction. We start with Walt’s first spark of an idea, and move on to the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair, Disneyland, and Magic Kingdom. Then, we chat about Disney’s recent exciting news of Walt himself joining the attraction to introduce the show.
This episode hits Walt Disney lovers with all the feels, so come join us for this fun discussion. Listen now on “one of those new talking machines” wherever you get your podcasts!
