Universal Orlando Resort has thrown down the gauntlet for theme park entertainment, revealing details about their highly anticipated fourth Orlando theme park – Epic Universe. Universal says their “most ambitious theme park yet” will be a gamechanger in the area of theme park entertainment.
According to Universal, Epic Universe will include fifty attractions, entertainment, dining, and shopping experiences, and will transform the vacation resort into a “weeklong vacation destination.”
The details released today focus on an area called Celestial Park – the heart of Epic Universe, and the first world guests will encounter when they enter the theme park.
Celestial Park
The “hub” of Epic Universe features acres of rolling gardens, waterways, and relaxing pathways, putting the “park” back in “theme park.” As guests wander the gardens and waters, they’ll find themselves surrounded by stunning architecture inspired by astronomical and mythological elements.
While the gardens and waterways all sound very relaxing, there will also be plenty to do in Celestial Park, with multiple attractions and plenty of dining and shopping experiences. Here are a few highlights…
Starfall Racers
Dual-launch racing coaster will rocket guests through the skies aboard comets in a race to see who’s the fastest of them all. Reaching speeds up to 62 mph and heights up to 133 feet along 5,000 feet of track, Starfall Racers will be Epic Universe’s most thrilling coaster experience. This new coaster will even feature a “Celestial Spin,” in which the two coaster vehicles perform an inverted criss-cross while speeding through the air – creating an “out-of-this-world” adrenaline rush.
Constellation Carousel
Constellation Carousel will be the centerpiece of Celestial Park. Guests of all ages will take a fantastical whirl aboard constellations that glide forward, backward, and even rotate 360 degrees, feeling like a dance through the milky way choreographed to music and starlight.
Astronomica
This interactive wet-play area will also double as a giant compass pointing to the many wonders of Epic Universe, featuring crystal blue fountains that spring to life, dancing around guests.
Dining Experiences
Food and refreshment options will range from quick-service locations to full-service restaurants.
Atlantic will be a full-service “surf and turf” restaurant set inside a Victorian aquarium, complete with captivating views of Celestial Park.
The Blue Dragon Pan-Asian Restaurant will take diners on a culinary journey across Asia, as they enjoy authentic Chinese, Japanese and Thai fare in this full-service restaurant accented with neon dragons and ethereal lanterns.
Additional food locations within Celestial Park will include The Oak & Star Tavern, specializing in barbeque, and Pizza Moon (I’ll let you guess what the specialty is here), and more locations as well.
Shopping
Nintendo Super Star Store will be the signature shopping location in Celestial Park. Here, guests can shop an assortment of merchandise themed to SUPER NINTENDO WORLD.
Moonship Chocolates & Celestial Sweets will satisfy every guest’s sweet tooth.
Enchanting Water Entertainment
Various fountain shows throughout Celestial Park will sway, dance, and even reach heights up to 135 feet in the air – all set to music and interactive lighting from day to night.
Portals to Other Extraordinary Worlds:
Celestial Park will serve as the park’s gateway to explore the four additional worlds of Epic Universe – each bringing to life extraordinary adventures that go beyond guests’ wildest imaginations. Majestic portals to each world will capture the imagination and creativity that lies ahead. Here are the four worlds guests will find on the other side of the portals:
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic
Here, guests will discover a different era and a different location of the wizarding world in an all-new land that blends 1920s wizarding Paris from Fantastic Beasts films with the iconic British Ministry of Magic from the Harry Potter series.
SUPER NINTENDO WORLD
Similar to Universal Studios Hollywood, guests will enter the iconic green pipe and step off the screen and into the worlds of beloved characters like Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Donkey Kong.
Dreamworks How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk
In “the world’s first dragon viking utopia,” guests can soar with dragons in a colorful world filled with Viking adventures based on the wildly popular How to Train Your Dragon film franchise.
Dark Universe
Universal is embracing its rich gothic monster history in this new land. Here, guests encounter everything from the experiments of Dr. Victoria Frankenstein to the shadowy landscape where monsters roam, in a world of myth and mystery.
Universal Helios Grand Hotel
At the far end of Celestial Park, guests will find the Universal Helios Grand Hotel, designed to transport guests to a world where the heavens and earth unite. This hotel will offer 500 rooms, one-of-a-kind views, and its very own dedicated entrance into the Epic Universe.
