Not to be outdone by Walt Disney World’s recent news about Piston Peak coming to Magic Kingdom, Disneyland Resort is the source of several news items today.
New Parking Structure and Transportation Hub
Ok, this may not sound very exciting on the surface, but space at Disneyland is tight and parking locations are at a premium, so this is welcome news indeed! According to Disney Parks Blog, “plans are underway for a new parking structure and transportation hub that will be built on the east side of Disneyland Resort, on a portion of what is currently the Manchester cast member parking lot. This new area will provide approximately 6,000 parking spaces, shuttle and rideshare areas, security screening and dedicated access for traffic off of Disney Way, improving parking and traffic flow throughout the resort area.”
Looking at the artist concept rendering, the new parking and transportation hub will also feature a pedestrian bridge over the very busy Harbor Boulevard, connecting parking areas to the resort while keeping pedestrians safe and vehicular traffic flowing.
The multi-year construction of this new arrival experience is scheduled to begin in fall of 2026. When completed, these enhanced parking, transit, and arrival offerings will provide the infrastructure necessary to prepare Disneyland for future growth and to welcome more guests as new experiences are added.
Speaking of new experiences…
New Details and Artwork for Avatar Experience

Last August, Disney revealed at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event that a new land inspired by the Avatar franchise would be coming to Disney California Adventure. Disney confirmed that a portion of the park’s Hollywood Backlot area will be used for the Avatar land. This project is still in the early stages of development, but Disney confirmed that Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! will close in early 2026 to make way for the new experience.
New Details and Artwork for the “Coco” Attraction

We now have a location for the highly anticipated Coco-themed boat ride attraction coming to Disney California Adventure. Last August, Disney shared that the attraction will be filled with cutting edge Audio-Animatronic characters and unforgettable music from the beloved movie, as guests join Miguel on a trip to the land of the dead. Disney has now shared that the upcoming attraction will be built near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier, in areas that are predominantly backstage today.
And even more exciting – construction on this attraction is planned to begin this fall!
(By the way, do I see Miguel meeting guests in the concept art?)
All of this exciting information is part of the Disneyland Forward program, a Disney Parks initiative serving to “guide the next generation of creativity, development and growth, allowing Disney to meaningfully invest in Anaheim for decades to come.”
