Here are the answers to our Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace trivia questions:
Question 1: Which four actors in the film are the only ones to reprise their roles from the original Star Wars trilogy (Episode IV through Episode VI)?
Answers: Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2), Frank Oz (Yoda) and Ian McDiarmid (Senator/Emperor Palpatine) are the only four actors to reprise their roles from the original Star Wars trilogy. Of those four, only C-3PO and R2-D2 returned from the original Star Wars film.
Question 2: Darth Maul – memorably sliced in half near the end of the film – appeared in one other Star Wars feature film. Which one?
Answer: Solo: A Star Wars Story. Maul was introduced at the very end as the leader of the Crimson Dawn crime syndicate. In both films, Maul was played by actor/martial artist Ray Park.
Question 3: In what production (film or television) did Neeson return as a live-action Qui-Gon Jinn?
Answer: Obi-Wan Kenobi. Neeson, as Qui-Gon, appeared at the very end of the six-episode series, in the form of a “Force Ghost.”
Question 4: How many different actors have played the tragic figure in live action film and television – not counting voice-only roles or stunt doubles? Bonus points if you can name all of the actors.
Answer: This one is a bit tricky. Outside of voice roles and stunt doubles, Darth Vader has been played substantially by 5 different actors:
David Prowse – the original Darth Vader figure throughout the original Star Wars trilogy.
Sebastian Shaw – Vader’s face at the end of Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.
Jake Lloyd – Anakin Skywalker as a boy in Episode I – The Phantom Menace.
Hayden Christensen – Episode II – Attack of the Clones (Anakin), Episode 3 – Revenge of the Sith (Anakin/Vader), Obi-Wan Kenobi television series (Anakin in flashback), and the Ahsoka television series (Anakin/Vader in “World between worlds” scene).
Spencer Wilding – Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Question 5: After playing Jar Jar Binks in The Phantom Menace, Ahmed Best returned to play a very different character in a more recent Star Wars production. In what film or television show did Best recently appear?
Answer: The Mandalorian. In Season Three, Episode 20 – The Foundling, Best played Jedi Kelleran Beq, who was tasked with helping a young Grogu escape from the Jedi temple on Coruscant, as it was under attack by the newly revealed Empire. This scene was short but insanely intense. Ahmed Best received high praise for this role, which was a nice reversal from the undeserved hate he received after playing Jar Jar Binks.
