One of the most popular Mickey Mouse cartoons of all time is The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, which appeared as part of the 1940 animated film Fantasia. As a young apprentice to a towering wise old sorcerer, Mickey tries his hand at magic, using a few spells to help him with his daily chores. Let’s just say it didn’t go too well, and Mickey’s mentor had to come rescue his young apprentice from a dire situation.
But regarding Mickey’s role as the sorcerer’s apprentice – Our question to you today is this: Besides Mickey, there was one other Disney character who was originally considered to play the part of the sorcerer’s apprentice. Who is that character?
And the answer is: Dopey!
Dopey is the most popular of all seven dwarfs, and since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs had been released in movie theaters only a few years earlier, Dopey was still very popular in America.
But Walt Disney himself decided he wanted Mickey to be the apprentice, because Mickey was that friend that everyone could relate with. And, well, he’s Mickey!
